To fight our fears we need finding the way to proceed with a sort of sensible, creative and interesting planning, for us as well as for our children and the people around us.
It is an idea of Happiness that we build by rolling up our sleeves, and which is generated by different people all shring the bent of living togehther to create new communities. This idea translates into four new places, each narrated through four hyperrealistic models, pictures and drawings.

ARCHITECTURE AS CITY – SAEMANGEUM ISLAND CITY

Florian Beigel und Philip Christou leben und arbeiten in der Architecture Research Unit (ARU) in London. ARU beschäftigt sich mit der Erforschung von Raumkonzepten und Raumbegriffen und überprüft die Konzepte regelmäßig an realen Bauprojekten.
Das Saemangeum-Projekt ist ein 400 km2 großes Landgewinnungsprojekt an der Westküste der koreanischen Halbinsel – geschützt von einem 33 km langen Deich. Auf dem Gebiet soll in den kommenden zehn Jahren Lebensumgebung für 680.000 Menschen entstehen. Saemangeum befindet sich dabei im agrarischen Zentrum Südkoreas, in der Provinz Jeollabuk Do und wird maßgeblich von Landwirtschaft und landwirtschaftlicher Forschung geprägt sein.
Diese Graz Master Lecture findet Rahmen des Projekts INTEGRAL statt.
Das Projekt wird aus Mitteln des Klima- und Energiefonds gefördert und im Rahmen des Programms “Neue Energien 2020” durchgeführt.
